Photo dimensions
The UK visa photo size should have a height of 45 mm and a width of 35 mm. The face should measure least 29 mm in length from the crown of the head to the chin. The UK visa photo size requirement has such measurement to ensure that the face covers 80% of the photograph. There should be enough space along the edges so the face should not take up more than 34 mm of the photo. Background
The photo must be taken with a plain white background. Some colour variation is acceptable as long as the shades are off-white, light grey, and cream. There should not be any objects such as hanging planters, furniture or textured details in the background. The individual’s clothing should contrast with the background colour.Facial features
In the photo, only the applicant’s face and upper shoulder should be visible. The face should take up the most space in the photo. All the facial features should be visible. People with long hair or fringes should tie or clip their hair away from their faces to prevent it from falling in front of their eyes. There should be no red eye in the photograph. Before taking the photograph, the applicant must remove his or her glasses to avoid any reflections or glare from the camera flash. The applicant should maintain a neutral expression with a closed mouth and refrain from smiling while facing forward without tilting the head.Accessories in the photographs
Accessories such as sunglasses, caps, and masks that conceal facial features should not be worn. For religious and medical reasons, headgear is permitted.Photo Quality
Print photographs must be of professional quality, with a clear focus on the face. The photograph must be taken in colour on plain white photographic paper. There should be no borders, creases, or cracks in the photograph. It should be unmarked on both sides and should not have been altered with computer software. It is essential to make sure that the room in which the photograph is taken is well-lit and that the photograph is not distorted or shaky while being taken. The image should not be overly bright or glossy.Photographs of children
The photograph should only show the child; no other person should be visible within the frame even if they are holding them. Older children should follow the same facial feature requirements as adults. Children under the age of six, on the other hand, can apply with photos that do not show them looking directly at the camera or maintaining a neutral expression. Infants under the age of one can send photos for visa applications, even if they have unintentionally closed their eyes in the picture. An adult can also support their head in the photograph, but their hand should not be visible. A better way to take photos for UK visa purposes of an infant is to have them lie on their back on a white blanket and photograph them from above. Children should not have any accessories, bibs, toys, pacifiers in their photograph.Digital photo requirements
